A Word From Our General Manager

February 4, 2008

Dear Friend,

It was over 5 years ago that I felt a strong leading to change vocations and return to radio broadcasting. Though I have never questioned my decision, I now find myself responsible for far greater things then I could have imagined. Though the course has been very challenging, and at times overwhelming, I am trusting in the faithfulness of God to guide me through all He wants to accomplish.

Fifty years ago Larry Gordon gave his life to Jesus Christ, as well as his radio station, KWIL 790. Since that day, KWIL has been broadcasting Christian programming throughout the Willamette Valley. This last July I turned 50 years old and now find myself leading the legacy that Larry began. As General Manager of HOPE and KWIL radio, I am privileged with the opportunity to make sure our message of hope continues for the next 50 years.

Though our stations currently receive revenue from advertising, this provides only a portion of the support that’s needed. As a locally owned, not-for-profit company, we continue to need support from individuals who believe in the power of Christian radio. I am excited to share that in the weeks ahead we will hold a special broadcast event that we believe will be instrumental in expanding that foundation of support. Though I know there are many great ministries that deserve your support, I invite you to consider becoming a partner with HOPE. You can do so in one or more of the following ways.

  • Pray and volunteer for our upcoming Sharathon event February 19 th, 20 th and 21 st.
  • Be listening during the Sharathon and consider how you can become a partner in bringing hope to life.
  • Become part of our challenge team. This is a group of financial contributors willing to give financial support prior to the Sharathon. Your gift will then be used as part
of a matching challenge helping to encourage others into the ministry of HOPE.

I mentioned at the start of this letter that I have been challenged in many ways since becoming General Manager. The fact is I have never written a letter like this. And as awkward as it is to ask for support from those you know, it would feel even more awkward to be silent about a cause I truly believe in.

I would be delighted to have you join with me in whatever way would seem appropriate for you. The dates of the Sharathon are February 19 th, 20 th and 21 st. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to email me at randy@hope1079.com.

In His Hope,

Randy Davison
