Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis – Youth Development Professional
PART-TIME POSITION: This is a seasonal school year position, following the Corvallis School District school year calendar - ends June 12th, 2025.
Hours: Part-Time, non-exempt: Generally, Monday through Thursday 2:15 - 6:00 PM, Friday 1:15 – 6:00 PM, on school days, plus staff meetings, trainings and quarterly Family Night Events
Wage: $15.70/hr - $16.50/hr based on placement
Reports To: Department Director
Summary
The Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis (BGCC) is a fast paced, innovative, and highly collaborative organization. Our elementary programs provide youth development services for grades K through 6th. We operate at our main Campus and at most Corvallis elementary schools. BGCC offers a wide variety of opportunities, from leading all activities at a single site, to supporting a single grade group. BGCC Youth Development Professionals (YDP’s) are responsible for the supervision of the program members, engaging youth with programs and activities, working as part of a team, providing positive guidance and discipline through goal setting, natural & logical consequences, positive redirection, and encouragement, and implementing positive youth development strategies and practices to achieve the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis’ mission and vision: to help youth reach their full potential and build a clear plan for their future in a safe, inclusive and positive place.
Job Functions:
● Supervise youth in grades K-6th.
● Develop and implement daily routines, schedules, and structure.
● Establish and maintain positive relationships with program members, staff, outside partners, and parents.
● Enforce behavioral Club standards and implement disciplinary action in a positive, affirming manner.
● Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers.
● Maintain a positive attitude, be flexible and adjust to evolving program structure.
● Ensure all classrooms/activity spaces are properly cleaned up at the end of programming.
● Attend all training sessions, staff meetings, and Family nights as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
● A high school diploma or equivalent
● Experience working with school age youth in an organized group setting (i.e. classroom, kindergarten, school age child care, recreation program or comparable setting)
● Excellent communication and organizational skills for record keeping and effective interactions with team members
● A current first aid, CPR, and food handler’s certification is required within one month of employment.
● Pass a background check.
